Packers extend GM Ted Thompson

The Green Bay Packers have signed Ted Thompson, the team’s executive vice president, general manager and director of football operations, to a new, multi-year contract extension.

Thompson was rewarded with a new contract less than a week after the Green Bay Packers won Super Bowl XLV over the Pittsburgh Steelers. 49 of the 53 players on the Packers active roster were acquired by Thompson during his six-year tenure with the team including 26 of them through the draft.

“We are thrilled to have Ted lead our football operations for the foreseeable future,” said team President and CEO Mark Murphy. “He has done an outstanding job of building this team. We worked on this and reached an agreement in December, and we are pleased to be able to make the announcement today.”

“This is a great organization and I am very humbled and appreciative,” said Thompson. “Green Bay is a special place and I am honored to work with such a great group of people that have all contributed to our success.”
