According to Bob McKenzie of TSN, the Flyers have placed forward Nikolay Zherdev on waivers.
Zherdev had scored 15 goals in 47 games for the Flyers, but had troubles remaining in the lineup. He last played Feb. 10 when the Flyers hosted the Carolina Hurricanes, but spent just 7:59 on the ice, registering just one shot on goal.
Signed during the offseason to a one-year, $2 million contract, Zherdev was considered somewhat of an experimental acquisition. His past reputation as a moody, defensively lazy skater again came to fruition in Philadelphia, as many had feared.
Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren met with Zherdev’s agent Jay Grossman over the weekend, but declined to comment on what was discussed.
