Now that Cliff Lee has signed with the Philadelphia Phillies, Kansas City Royals pitcher Zack Greinke is the hottest starter on the market. Greinke has requested a trade out of Kansas City and took a step on Friday to make that happened.
After being represented by SFX throughout his entire career, Greinke announced that he will now work with Casey Close of Creative Arts Agency (CAA).
CAA is a longtime superpower in Hollywood representing actors, directors, writers, and musicians. It has built up CAA Sports over the past decade and Close runs their baseball division. His top clients include New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter and Philadelphia Phillies 1st baseman Ryan Howard.
The 27-year old righty is set to make $13.5 million in each of the next two seasons. His frustration with the Royals organization has increased over the past several months and Greinke has indicated that he is willing to waive his no trade clause to get out of Kansas City.
It is now Close and CAA’s job to make that happen.
