TCU is moving to the Big East Conference.
Syracuse University and the rest of the Big East will have a new foe as Texas Christian University announces later today that they will be joining the conference.
A person with direct knowledge of the decision stated Monday morning that TCU is moving from the Mountain West Conference to the Big East after the 2011-12 academic year. The person would not comment publicly because the decision had not been announced.
TCU has scheduled a 2pm EST news conference on Monday for “a major announcement involving the TCU athletics program.”
The Horned Frogs are currently #3 in the BCS standings in College Football but will likely finish outside of the national championship game due to their strength of schedule and not being part of a major conference. While TCU might have success in football, it will be a tough transition for the basketball program as they have not won a NCAA tournament game since 1987.
