Joakim Noah fined $50,000

Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah has been fined $50,000 for directing an anti-gay slur at a fan during Game 3 of the Bulls Eastern Conference Finals matchup against the Miami Heat.

The NBA levied the fine “for using a derogatory and offensive term from the bench.”

The fine is only half of what Los Angeles Lakers’ star Kobe Bryant was assessed for shouting the same slur toward a referee last month.

“Kobe’s fine included discipline for verbal abuse of a game official,” NBA spokesman Mark Broussard said.

Noah and the Bulls will be back in action on Tuesday night in Miami for Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Heat lead the series two-games-to-one.
