No this post isn’t about the scoring. Although, I could probably spend an entire week breaking down the scoring of collegiate gymnastics. And why it is the only gymnastics scoring rubric that still grabs the average sports fans’ attention.
A quick hint: A “perfect” score is still 10.
A quick shout-out to all levels of gymnastics: The idea of a Perfect 10 was, well, perfect. Now that you have changed it to 17 or 16.5 or 16.8 or 24, or whatever number you decided was a “perfect” score, you’ve lost everyone that isn’t a gymnast.
Anyway, I watched an interesting clip on ESPN regarding the difficulty of gymnastics – based in the world mathematics.
