The Maloof family should start planning a defense strategy. The owners of the Sacramento Kings were apparently told by the NBA that they will be in Sacramento next season.
The team won’t be moving to Anaheim, according to CSN California.
ESPN – Los Angeles is reporting a similar story.
Monday the NBA and the Kings are planning on issuing press releases announcing the move – or lack thereof – but Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, a three-time All-Star in the NBA, will also host a press conference of his own Monday to spread the news.
This decision does not change the long-term plans for the Sacramento Kings. Joe Maloof said his family is still deciding whether to move the franchise to Anaheim. As of Friday, Maloof was still waiting to hear from Johnson on the status of his fundraising and sponsorship support.
“We await the results of the fact-finding visit that the NBA made to Sacramento the past two days,” a team statement said Friday. “We have not made a decision with regards to relocation filing, and will not make that decision until we have more information from the NBA.”
