Fiesta Bowl troubles continue

The Fiesta Bowl isn’t living up to it’s name. There’s no fiesta happening. And the closest thing to a “party” is a political one.

The BCS is set to decide – within a month – whether to remove the Fiesta Bowl its place among the FBS’ marquee bowls.

The bowl game is under scrutiny after it surfaced that the Fiesta Bowl may have violated election laws by reimbursing employees for political donations.

Penn State President Graham Spanier, chairman of the seven-member panel investigating the Fiesta Bowl, told The Associated Press Tuesday that the committee plans to meet with the board of directors of the bowl.

Spanier said the panel had already conducted multiple teleconferences on the matter.

By mid-May, a report will be filed and reviewed by conference commissioners and the BCS’ presidential oversight committee and a final verdict reached.

Until then, the only fiesta in Arizona will be across the border.

  1. Give it to the Cotton Bowl. The Fiesta bowl was, is, and will continue to be terrible. They do not know how to operate a quality Bowl game. I’ve been twice and both times were God AWFUL.
