Southern University fires Athletic Director

Southern University says it has dismissed athletic director Greg LaFleur.

“This decision was reached after consultation with campus and system administrators. We think the decision is in the best interest of Southern University,” Southern University Chancellor Kofi Lomotey said.

LaFleur was arrested over the weekend in Houston. He was charged with soliciting prostitution from an undercover police officer.

He was released Monday on $500 bond.

Reports are that women’s basketball coach Sandy Pugh might take over the AD position on an interim basis.

LaFleur is a former NFL tight end and has been AD for six years.
