New Orleans Hornets forward David West will miss the remainder of the 2010-2011 season after suffering a torn ACL in his left knee.
West faces a long rehabilitation process just as he was set to become an unrestricted free agent.
West suffered the injury Thursday night in a Hornets overtime victory over the Utah Jazz, and an MRI on Friday in Phoenix revealed the tear that will take six months of rehabilitation.
The season-ending injury is a crushing blow to the Hornets, who are clinging to the seventh seed in the Western Conference. Memphis trails the Hornets by one game, and Houston is three back now.
