Yankees trade Sergio Mitre to Brewers

The New York Yankees have traded pitcher Sergio Mitre to the Milwaukee Brewers for outfielder Chris Dickerson.

ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick was first to report the deal.

After coming into camp in a battle for one of New York’s final spots in their starting rotation, the 30-year old Mitre struggled this spring to the tune of a 5.73 ERA over 11 innings.

The Brewers can use Mitre as a fill-in starter while Shaun Marcum and Zack Greinke recover from their respective injuries. That, or they might just stick him in long relief.

Dickerson, 28, spent parts of three seasons with the Reds from 2008-10, hitting .267 with eight home runs and 35 RBI in 173 games.
