NFL kickoff rules may be changing

The NFL is still locked in a labor battle, but that doesn’t mean the owners aren’t moving ahead with amending certain rules of the games.

NFL competition committee is talking about changing a few rules on kickoffs.

Chairman, Rich McKay, told the Associated Press the committee is thinking about moving kickoffs up to the 35-yard line, moving touchbacks to the 25-yard line and removing blocking wedges. Also on the docket: defenseless receiver rules and reviewing every scoring play – at any time during a game.

McKay said the committee is interested most in player safety.

Owners will vote Tuesday.
