March Madness Preview: No. 13 Morehead State vs. No. 12 Richmond

The Deal

The Morehead State hat I own is looking a little less foolish today. Too bad its hidden away in a box all the way across the country.

The Cinderella tema from the first day is getting ready for their next matchup.

Of course, the hat’s cool-factor depends on what Richmond can do tonight against the school that knocked off Louisville – on a Demonte Harper 3-pointer in the last few seconds no less.

The No. 13 Morehead State Eagles are set to take on the No. 13 Richmond Spiders, tonight.

Richmond had it’s own hurdle to jump. They beat No. 5 Vanderbilt, 69-66. The Spiders are no stranger to playing in the second round – they beat an Auburn team (led by Charles Barkley) in 1984 and beat second-seeded Syracuse back in 1991.

The Breakdown

Morehead

If Morehead wants to win, the thought is, they’re going to need Kenneth Faried to have a big game- shooting the ball and cleaning the glass. But, against Louisville, he scored just 12 points on 4-for-17 shooting, though, the all-time rebounding leader in Division I, finished with 17 rebounds.

The Eagles won despite a poor shooting game from Faried, but in this game, that can’t happen. Demonte Harper and Terrance Hill only have so many of those games in them.

Richmond

Seniority is the priority. The Spiders run four seniors out on the floor and they will need to control the tempo of the game and use their experience to out-wit the inexperienced Eagles.
