March Madness Preview: No. 4 Texas vs. No. 13 Oakland

Matchup:

Oakland isn’t a household name, but they have battled their fair-share of formidable foes. Texas played themselves into teh Big 12 Championship game before getting bounced by Kansas. It’s another mid-major that uses speed and a full team effort against a school that can recruit top-flight athletes.

Texas

The Longhorns were bounced form the Big 12 Championship game but might have learned something in the process. Guard Jordan Hamilton can make shots – a lot of shots – but he needs to settle into the offense. They use the low-post as a weapon. Center Tristan Thompson averages 13 points, eight rebounds and forward Gary Johnson averages 11 points and seven rebounds per game. not only rack up points but crash the boards for second chance opportunities.

Oakland

The Golden Grizzlies dominated the Summit League. If there was ever a team poised to be the 13-4 upset – it was Oakland. The Grizzlies should be prepared for playing a top tier program – after playing at Tennessee, West Virginia, Illinois, Michigan and Ohio State during the regular season. Add to that, they use a balanced attack with five players scoring around 10 points or more per game.
