When Mike Lederer reported “Big Baby” Glen Davis suffered a knee injury, all of Celtics nation held their breath. Thursday, the Boston forward was diagnosed with patellar tendinitis in his left knee.
He told the Associated Press the knee has been sore since he injured it in Game 7 of the NBA finals last year in Los Angeles.
The team says he could be out for about a week. An MRI showed no “major structural damage” after Davis was hurt against the Suns.
Celtics coach Doc Rivers told the AP Davis would miss “a couple of games.”
Davis has played in a team-high 59 games and is averaging 11 points per game and about five rebounds in place of Shaquille O’Neal and Jermaine O’Neal. He’s scored in double figures four of the last five games.
