The Atlanta Falcons have signed head coach Mike Smith to a 3-year contract extension. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“When we hired Mike Smith in 2008, we believed we had found the total package: a head coach with strong leadership skills and experience and the track record to back it up,” Falcons owner Arthur Blank said in a statement.
Smith has led the Falcons to three consecutive winning seasons for the first time in franchise history and is 33-17 overall during his tenure as head coach. The Falcons went an NFC-best 13-3 during the 2010 regular season before losing to the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round of the playoffs.
Atlanta has posted three consecutive winning seasons under Smith, a franchise first, and has a 33-17 record during the span.
