Cleveland Browns hire Dick Jauron as Defensive Coordinator

The Cleveland Browns have hired Dick Jauron as their new defensive coordinator.

Jauron, 60, was the defensive backs coach for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2010 and was seen as one of the leading candidates for their vacant coordinator spot.

The Browns had narrowed their search down to Jauron and former University of Pittsburgh head coach Dave Wannstedt. However, after Wannstedt accepted a position as the new assistant head coach and LB coach with the Buffalo Bills on Friday morning, Jauron became the pick for Cleveland.

Jauron was the head coach for the Buffalo Bills from 2006 until November 2009. He has previously held head coaching positions with the Chicago Bears and, on an interim basis, with the Detroit Lions. He was the defensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers from 1986-1994 and the Lions from 2004-2005.
