Breaking: Allen Iverson to announce his retirement

Allen Iverson appears close to end of his basketball career.

The former Philadelphia Sixers’ guard injured his left ankle recently and has decided he has reached the end of his basketball career. He spent 10 seasons in Philadelphia before moving to Denver, then Detroit, before ending up in Memphis.

Iverson will hold a press conference to announce that he is going to have ankle surgery in the United States and will be leaving Turkey.

“Leaving the basketball world makes me sad,” Iverson said. “But, sometimes, we have to accept things like they are. I can say goodbye to basketball.”

Longtime manager Gary Moore told the AP, Iverson “totally disputes” reports out of Turkey that he was set to retire.

He left the NBA with 24, 368 points, 1,983 steals, 3,394 rebounds and 5,624 assists.

The 11-time NBA All Star and 2001 Most Valuable Player signed a 2-year contract with Bestikas in Turkey back in October. However, it appears the answer to when Iverson’s career would finally come to an end is now.
