The American League Champion Texas Rangers have signed veteran left-handed reliever Arthur Rhodes to a 1-year contract. The deal includes a vesting option for a 2nd season that could bring the total value of the contract to approximately $8 million.
Rhodes, an All-Star for the first time in 2010, went 4-4 with a 2.29 ERA last season. In 55 innings of work he had 50 strikeouts and just 18 walks and held lefties to .214/.230/.393 line.
The 41-year old reliever had been in negotiations to return to Cincinnati where he spent the last two seasons. However those talks died late this week and Rhodes decided to sign with Texas.
Rhodes will be joining his 8th different team as he gets set to enter his 20th MLB season.
