USC-UCLA Brawl = Awesome.

Oh, how England would be proud. Or certain parts of Italy. I bet, Brazil has that warm fuzzy feeling.

Did North Korea disarm it’s nuclear weapons? No.

Better.

Fans at the USC-UCLA game brawled before kickoff in the “grassy part of Brookside Golf Course,” Pasadena police Cmdr. Darryl Qualls said.  Three men arrested, two people stabbed and two officers hurt.

Great. I’m glad college football is starting to catch up to the futbol community around the world.

Per Greg Beacham of the AP:

One person was stabbed in the cheek and the other was stabbed in the back during the melee some three hours before Saturday’s crosstown-rivalry game between the Bruins and Trojans was set to start, Qualls said. Both were taken by ambulance to Huntington Memorial Hospital. He described their condition as stable

According to Beacham, the fight broke out when a game of catch went south. A few UCLA fans were tossing the ball and an overthrow hit a black Mercedes.

Vimal Patel, 24, was the apart of the group and ended up stabbed in the back. And according the the LA Times, Patel’s friend, Martin Keeley said, three men approached him and eventually stabbed him in the back.

Welcome to South Central.

When I chatted with Mike Lederer about the fight he said, “Must have been some [people] from Philly that travelled out for the game.”

Or Raider fans.

Per Beacham again:

“We were in the middle of it and my brother got popped in the face,” Matthew Dirling told the Times. “We were having a good time and this broke out.”

USC fan Michael Lane of Los Angeles said he was tailgating with friends in the lot when the melee broke out around him.

“People from USC and UCLA were fighting against each other,” Lane said. “It was bottles being thrown and different things happened … I saw a person come out with a bloody face.”

Not that it matters, but USC won, 28-14. It was the 11 time in 12 years the Trojans have bested the Bruins. And the fourth time in a row.
