The Oregon State Beavers struggled. Again.
Last year, the Beavers equaled its worst loss in school history when Seattle beat Oregon State, 99-48. This year, it was closer, but still embarrassing.
Per the AP:
Cervante Burrell scored 22 points, Sterling Carter added 20 for Seattle as they rallied to defeat Oregon State 83-80 Wednesday night.
The Redhawks (1-3) knocked away the ball from Oregon State’s Calvin Haynes as time ran out, preventing the Beavers (1-1) from attempting to tie the game with a last-second shot.
Alex Jones added 11 points, all in the second half for Seattle. Jared Cunningham led Oregon State with 19 points, Haynes had 18 and Omari Johnson grabbed 13 rebounds.
The Redhawks trailed, 64-54 with 9:57 to play before going on a 20-5 run to take the lead.
The Beavers had the lead early but failed to hold onto it. After Beavers’ Joe Burton bricked a free throw, Oregon State was outscored 31 to 16. Burton, Cunningham and Haynes combined for 11 turnovers.
