Connecticut coach cheats, caught, condemned

Enough Cs in that headline? I think the condemned might be a little over the top…

Regardless, a high school football coach (and a former NCAA football player) realized he made a mistake last Friday. And he apologized. D.J. Hernandez, Southington football coach and former UCONN quarterback and wide receiver found the armband playbook to Manchester High School.

He used the information in a game on Oct. 22. Southington won 28-14.

Per the AP:

“In an e-mail Wednesday, Hernandez says he realizes that he did not set a good example for his team, and promises to become a better coach. The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference is expected to take up Manchester’s formal protest of Hernandez’s actions at a meeting on Nov. 18.”

Just goes back to what I’ve always said, cheaters always proper.
