New England Patriots WR Chad Ochocinco stays quiet on biggest stage

Chad Ochocinco is almost as famous for his mouth as he is for his hands. The six-time Pro Bowl players has made a career out of touchdown dances, pleas to not be fined and sending the opposition Pepto Bismol.

That was before he became a New England Patriot. That was before he made it to the Super Bowl.

“I’ve been playing this game a long time,” He told reporters at Lucas Oil Stadium. “And this is what you dream of, to come to this stage and enjoy it. So that’s what I’m going to do.”

Enjoyment for Ochocinco was once all of the antics. Now, after a long career without playoff wins, it’s about being in this moment. Even if that moment was brought about without Ochocinco as the shining star.

“I think I’ve had a great career in general. The year wasn’t what I expected, what everyone else expected. But I did everything I was supposed to do: work, stay quiet. I don’t know if being on this stage is a reward, but there’s nothing else I can do. I’m part of a team and I’ve done everything asked of me.”

Even though Ochocinco was subdued, he was still had a joke up his sleeve. He stood on the artificial turf – not at one of the assigned podiums – and addressed a few members of the media.

“This is my podium,” he said. “If I was up there, you couldn’t get to me. You couldn’t smell the cologne I have on now.”

Ochocinco, though, isn’t a starter for the big game. In fact, he has only tallied 15 receptions on the season for 276 yards – with one touchdown. It didn’t seem to bother him, though. He said making it to the big game as a reserve receiver wasn’t bittersweet at all.
