It didn’t take long for the Atlanta Falcons to replace their defensive coordinator. The team announced the hiring of former San Francisco coach Mike Nolan as their defensive coordinator on Tuesday.
Nolan replaces Brian VanGorder, who left for the same position at Auburn.

In all, Nolan has been an NFL coordinator for 14 years.
The Falcons, who plan to retain most of the starters from this seasons playoff team will be starting 2012 with two new coordinators. Nolan on defense and Dirk Koetter will take over for Mike Mularkey on offense.
