49ers’ WR Crabtree hurt again

The San Francisco 49ers won the season-opener 33-17 over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. But that wasn’t the news. Because even in limited playing time, 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree still left the field with a limp.

It was his left foot. Crabtree finished with one reception for 4 yards.

The 49ers hope-for-a-wide-receiving-future underwent precautionary X-rays on his injured left foot after the game. The results returned negative.

The 49ers might not be as worried, though. The team controlled the game and eventually sealed the deal with two returns – one punt, one kickoff – by another wide receiver, Ted Ginn.

Crabtree, the 2009 10th overall pick, broke his foot during offseason workouts led by 49ers quarterback Alex Smith during the NFL lockout. Crabtree also missed the 2010 preseason with a neck injury and in 2009 missed five games during a 71-day contract stalemate.

Entering this season – his third as a pro – he as played in 27 games and has 103 receptions for 1,366 yards and eight touchdowns.
