The Jacksonville Jaguars have informed veteran Quarterback David Garrard that he will be released.
FoxSports.com’s Jay Glazer was the first to report of Garrard’s impending release.
Per FoxSports’s Adam Caplan, Garrard was set to make $8.075 million this season which would have become fully guaranteed if he was on Jacksonvilles roster on Saturday. He had signed an extension with the Jaguars through the 2014 season.
The 33-year old veteran has spent the past nine seasons with the Jaguars and has been the team’s full-time starter since the start of the 2006-2007 season. In 86 games with Jacksonville Garrard threw for over 16,000 yards and 89 touchdowns while throwing 54 interceptions.
QB Luke McCown will start for the Jaguars on Sunday. Rookie 1st round pick Blaine Gabbart will be the number two quarterback for Jacksonville.
