Bruce Pearl speaks regarding Tennessee punishment

Bruce Pearl understands the NCAA is using him to set an example for how future coaches would be treated. But also hopes it doesn’t end his college coaching career forever.

Pearl, who coached at Tennessee before being fired amid an NCAA investigation, addressed the media at his home over a barbeque.

According to govolsxrta.com: “Pearl said that he will not appeal the 3-year show-cause penalty he received in the NCAA infractions report released on Wednesday.”

Pearl told reporters he is glad Tennessee was not further punished for what he, and his assistants, did. He also said he takes full responsibility for his mistakes. But still thinks his punishment’s length is a bit long.

The NCAA prohibited Pearl from recruiting during the next three years, and any school wanting to hire him would have to talk to the NCAA about removing that penalty.
