Jim Thome hit his 600th homerun Monday night. He’s the second-fastest player to reach No. 600. The Minnesota Twins slugger is the eighth player reach the milestone – and he did so on a two-homerun night.

Thome, 40, hit a two-run shot in the sixth for No. 599 and then a three-run homer in the seventh for No. 600. The milestone homerun came on a 2-1 pitch from Daniel Schlereth. After the ball cleared the fence, the the entire stadium in Detroit applauded.
Thome hit his 600th homer in at-bat No. 8,137 while Babe Ruth needed only 6,921 at-bats.
His 65 home runs against Detroit are his most against any team.
