Ahman Green tallied more than 9,200 yards and 60 rushing touchdowns in his career and now he is ready to walk away from the game. But he isn’t leaving the field.
The Big Ten network hired the 34-year-old former Green Bay Packers and Nebraska running back as a sideline analyst for a handful of selected games this fall.
Even in his first assignment he will be a familiar face on the sidelines – he is covering his alma mater, Nebraska. The game is Sept. 3 and is the season opener for the Cornhuskers against Tennessee-Chattanooga.
Green will be a hybrid reporter – a lot like Tony Saragusa for Fox Sports – offering his opinion on in-game strategies, coaching decisions and injury updates.
On top of that, he will be doing some volunteer high school coaching this fall in Green Bay. He told The Associated Press he hopes to sign a one-day contract with the Packers soon so he can retire as a member of the team.
