Chiefs, Broncos, vote for recertification

Half of the AFC West is on-board for recertification. Both the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos have voted unanimously to recertify as a players union.

Broncos safety Brian Dawkins, who is on the executive committee of the NFLPA, called it an easy sell to his teammates.

“I know a lot of the deal was based on the fact that we had to recertify,” Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassell told The Associated Press. “We know as of Aug. 4 this labor lockout would continue. We voted unanimously to end it and recertify.”

Once the NFLPA recertifies and regains its union status and finish the collective bargaining agreement. It will allow players who have agreed to new deals to join their teams.

The NFL Lockout ended last week. But the union decertified last March at the start of the owners’ lockout and the players have yet to recertify.
