Rangers sign 16-year-old, again

Everything is bigger in Texas, including the appetite for quality baseball players. Example: The Texas Rangers have signed their second 16-year-old outfielder in under a week.

Both from the Dominican Republic. Both receiving big signing bonuses. Those are bigger in Texas, too.

This time, Ronald Guzman got a 2012 contract Saturday with a signing bonus of $3.45 million. Only a few days ago, Nomar Mazara (also, 16-years-old) got a $5 million bonus.

Guzman and Mazara are both left-handed hitters. They will report to the Rangers’ Dominican complex in Boca Chica when they return from Texas.
