Dayton Dragons break record set by Portland Trail Blazers

What should be one of the most coveted records was broken today – and it wasn’t anything Derek Jeter did. The Class-A baseball team, the Dayton Dragons, set the record for consecutive sellouts by a pro franchise in North America.

And according to popular belief – it’s not going to end anytime soon.

Saturday night, 8,688 witnessed the 815th consecutive sellout. The Dragons broke the record – at Fifth Third Field – originally held by the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers from 1977-95.

The game was official after the fifth inning – to which there was a long standing ovation according to fans and reporters. The Dragons are planning a larger celebration July 23.

The Dragons are the Class-A affiliate for the Cincinnati Reds. They’ve sold out every home game since 2000. Meaning over 8,000 people have walked through the gates every home game and, on top of that, more than 8,000 people on the waiting list for season tickets.
