With the fifth pick in the 2011 NBA draft the Toronto Raptors selected center Jonas Valanciunas from Lithuania.
The 6’11” 240 pound center is considered one of the top big men prospects in this draft class alongside Enes Kanter.
However Valanciunas will not be eligible to play during the 2011-2012 season.
According to Chad Ford of ESPN.com, Valanciunas is close to a buy out agreement with his Lithuanian club Lietvus Rykos that would prevent him from playing in the NBA next year.
Apparently the holdup on Valanciunas NBA arrival didn’t scare his new team away.
