Former NFL wide receiver Plaxico Burress has been released from prison.
He was released at approximately 9am EST on Monday morning.
Burress, formerly of the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants, turned in his prison clothes for his own and left Oneida Correctional Institution early Monday morning.
He has spent the past 20 months and 14 days in Upstate New York’s correctional facility.
Burress was jailed back in 2008 on charges related to when he accidentally shot himself in the leg at a New York nightclub with an unlicensed gun.
The former wide receiver will be an unrestricted free agent and can sign with any NFL team as soon as the lockout comes to a close.
