More bad news for soccer fans. The Greek Football Association is suspending operations indefinitely. The country is trying to get control of it’s violent games.
A vote passed, 49-7, to suspend all games to , as the Association chief Sofoklis Pilavios said, to control the hooligans, violence, and match-fixers.
The suspension will start following Greece’s 2012 European Championship qualifier at home to Malta on Saturday. The suspension will not affect the June 7 exhibition between Greece and Ecuador at New York’s Citi Field.
Greek soccer has been marred by repeated outbreaks of fan violence this season, along with allegations of corruption.
