Connecticut basketball coach Jim Calhoun is a fighter. Less than one week after having back surgery the Hall of Fame coach is back on the sideline.
Calhoun received a standing ovation as he walked on the court before the UConn-Pitt game on Saturday. The game was the Huskies regular-season finale.
Most people take 4 to 6 weeks to recover from back surgery. Sometimes upwards of two to three months. For Calhoun, six days sufficed. He was under the knife on Monday and on the bench by Saturday.
Calhoun took an indefinite medical leave on Feb. 3 and the Huskies are 3-5 since that point.
