Pittsburgh Panthers’ Jordano sets career wins mark

In the fourth win of the season, Pittsburgh Panther head coach Joe Jordano became Pitt baseball’s all-time wins leader. Jordano earned the 403rd victory of his career in the Panthers’ 3-1 win at Coastal Carolina on Friday.

Jordano is in his 15th season with the program. He passed Bobby Lewis, who took 35 years to reach that same mark.

“I am humbled because of the great respect I have for Coach Lewis as well as his wonderful family, Laverne and Chip,” Jordano said. “I am honored to be a part of Pitt Baseball history, one in which Coach Lewis played such a significant role and wrote so many of the chapters. “

Jordano’s career is considered impressive. He is 403-335-2 since taking over at Pitt in 1998. Beofre Pitt, he spent 10 years at Mercyhurst. In total, he is 686-453-2 and has been crowned “Coach of the Year” seven times.

Jordano didn’t get his record-setting win over a chump team, either. Coastal Carolina has won five consecutive Big South Championships.
