Ryan Finney, the Assistant Sports Information Director at UCLA in charge of Men’s Basketball probably wishes he hadn’t gotten out of bed this morning. Or skipped that extra cup of coffee.
That’s because a Sports Illustrated report is painting the UCLA basketball program as one that is in complete disarray.In a story that includes interview from more than a dozen players and staffers, it shows that Bruins coach Ben Howland allowed an influx of talented but immature recruits to undermine team discipline and morale.
The report, which is available on Sports Illustrated’s website, says teammates have gotten in fights, players routinely used alcohol and drugs – sometimes before practice – and said that one player even intentionally injured teammates.
