Bret Bielema has found his guy. The Wisconsin Badgers are moving forward without Paul Chryst and have brought in Matt Canada.
Canada will take over as the team’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Chryst left to become the head coach at Pittsburgh. Canada joins Wisconsin from Northern Illinois
Canada is excited to run a pro-style offense and plans to bring his own flair to the Wisconsin offense.
“We’re all different, and we all have our own unique ways of coaching,” Canada told uwbadgers.com. “But there’s a brand of Wisconsin football that we all understand and know and it’s based upon what was built and what has been here, and we’re going to continue on with that.”
Wisconsin is excited to see what Canada can do with the offense. Recall that last season Northern Illinois finished among the top 12 in the country in scoring offense, total offense and rushing offense last season.
Canada held the same position – offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach – at Northern Illinois that he will at Wisconsin. Last season, Canada helped the Huskies to an 11-3 record, a MAC championship and a victory in the GoDaddy.com Bowl this past season.
Before NIU, Canada had spent the last seven years at Indiana.
