New York Yankees hire Jim Hendry

The New York Yankees are getting even better – like usual. The team continues to make moves on and off the field this offseason to bolster an already impressive lineup and front office. Tuesday they hired former Chicago Cubs General Manager Jim Hendry as a scout.

Hendry had a rich history with the Cubs before being fired August 18, 2011. Hendry helped the Cubs to three postseason trips, including back-to-back trips in 2007 and 2008. He was the third longest serving general manager in the history of the club.

It might be a demotion in title, but one Hendry was happy to take.

That’s not all, the team did some shuffling of front office personnel, too. Assistant General Manager Jean Afterman was given the additional title of senior vice president, according to The Associated Press. Also, Billy Eppler was promoted to assistant General Manager.
