Round 1 of The Freeway Series
This Saturday the Los Angeles Lakers “visit” the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center. Both teams are coming off tough overtime victories. Clippers may have the advantage because the Lakers have a home game against the Cavs before facing the Clips the next day.
Los Angeles Lakers
Kobe Bryant is putting up MVP numbers right now averaging 30.3 points a game with a bad wrist and he hasn’t taken a day off yet like other NBA superstars. Bryant will bring his A+ game verses the Clippers because the Clippers is the team he was playing against when he injured his wrist against and Kobe has a tendency to hold grudges. It’s not just about Black Mamba though its the surprise play coming Steve Blake & Andrew Bynum this season. Blake is knocking down momentum shifting three pointers and Bynum is playing like a posses beast feeding off of trade rumors.
Los Angeles Clippers
Across town the LA Clippers are still building a relationship. The overtime win against the Heat will help bring the team even closer. CP3 and Blake are doing what everyone expected them to do this year. It’s the clutch defensive presence coming from DeAndre Jordan and sharp shooting from Caron Butler and Chauncey Billups that’s turns Lob city into a real good NBA team. Many critics didn’t think a two guard line up would work but somehow someway Coach Del Negro is making it work.
L.A. Ugly
The Lakers and Clippers certainly have flaws they have to improve on. Everyone knows that Lakers have problems with quick guards. So their help side defense has to step up to try and slow down Chris Paul.
The Clippers problem is rebounding the basketball. Blake and DeAndre can touch the top of the backboard easily but they have a tendency not to box out. They need to get low and box out Saturday or its going to long day in the key especially with players like Bynum and Gasol down there.
Whose bench will play better?
The starting lineup of Lakers and Clippers are evenly match, so I feel its the play of the 2nd unit which will decide the who wins Saturday night. The Bench that scores the most points and plays the best defense when their on the floor will win round 1 of the freeway series.
New NBA Atmosphere
This is a very exciting moment for any basketball fan in Los Angeles. Just to know that there are two good NBA basketball teams in the your city has to make a NBA fan happy. Also both teams can make the playoff this year or even win the whole thing.
Lakers want to show Clipper fans that they are still run L.A. and the Clippers are trying to show Lakers fans they are not just tenets in the Staples Center and they need to be taken seriously.Blake said this game will be a battle, so let L.A. WAR begin.
