I was born in Los Angeles, California in 1987 so I grew up in the great 90s. When great players like Michael Jordan, Barry Sanders, and Wayne Gretzky were at the peak of their careers. In my opinion, this was when sports were still the high price name brand version and not the knock of brand like it is now. Don’t get me wrong sometimes the off-brand is better than the name brand but in this case it depends on the sport you’re talking about.
Growing up I played any sport that had a ball so I was labeled as a jock at a young age. This label followed me to Junior High School, High School, and then College. I got accepted to Xavier University and decided to try out for the baseball team. I impressed them and I managed to stay on the team for two years before being release due to medical issues. Sophomore year I became a practice player for the Xavier Women’s Basketball team and worked closely with the Point Guards which helped improve my basketball IQ. While in school I started my own sports show on campus covering sports in locally and nationally. Even though I played baseball in college, the National Basketball League has always been my sports addiction.
The NBA is the sport I studied on my down time at a young age. I love the league and everything about it. Yes I was that child growing up who dreamed that he was going to make it the NBA and be better than Michael Jordan. This didn’t obviously happen because I am sitting at home writing this lovely letter for you. I may not become better than Michael Jordan at basketball but I will become the Michael Jordan of something my life.
If you haven’t caught on now I am very out spoken person and has the tendency to come off cocky but I am not cocky. I am just confident in my abilities the Lord has blessed me with. I write about sports because I love them, yes all of them. I want other people to hear my opinion so you can read it and spark a conversation with your mom, dad, brother, sister, girlfriend or boyfriend. Over the years, I’ve realized sports are a great conversation starter when you don’t have anything to talk about so why not read what I have to say and take it back to your household.
I will never stop talking, writing and reading about sports and if you didn’t know the world won’t either.
