The New York Yankees closer, Mariano Rivera, will undergo surgery before the start of next season. The operation shouldn’t have an affect on his pitching as it is to remove polyps from his vocal chords.
He goes in for the surgery on Friday. After the operation he wont be able to speak for a week.
Rivera, who turned 42 on Tuesday, tallied 44 saves last year and has, a record, 603 for his career.
