Maybe I’ve been living under a rock. Maybe I stopped paying close attention to some NFL teams (read: Indianapolis Colts). And maybe – just MAYBE – I’ve lost a step.
But, damn, Aaron Kampman is still in the NF?!!?!
Well, sort of.
Today, the Jacksonville Jaguars placed the defensive end on the injured reserve list. This will end his season prematurely… For the second consecutive season.
So maybe I wasn’t that crazy. He hasn’t really played. Since 2008 he has only played in 20 games, tallying 7.5 sacks and has ended each season on the IR.
This year, Kampman has played. Sometimes. First, he missed the first five games with a knee injury and then sat out the last four with a strained hamstring. He’s only managed two tackles and two quarterback pressures during his playing time this season.
Remember back when he was relevant? He signed a four-year, $26 million contract with Jacksonville in 2010. Since that contract, he has 16 tackles in 11 games and only four sacks.
That means he has made – so far – $2.6 million per game or about $6 million per sack.
Not bad.
