I know what it looks like, a lopsided football score.
It’s not.
It’s women’s basketball.
The Liberty Flames burned the Lipscomb Bison 70-27 Saturday in a consolation game of the Vanderbilt Thanksgiving Tournament.
The box score reads like a Varsity vs. Freshman matchup. Four Liberty players scored in double figures and three pulled down at least 10 rebounds.
Liberty guard Reagan Miller – no known relation to Reggie Miller – scored a game-high 18 points, while teammates forward Danika Dale and center Avery Warley both tallied double-doubles, with 11 points and 10 rebounds, each.
Liberty guard LaKendra Washington added her own double-figure scoring total, netting a season-high 14 points and three steals.
But it wasn’t enough that Liberty put on a scoring clinic, they also played solid defense. The Flames held the Bison without a basket for longer than seven minutes at a time, twice, in the first half.
Lipscomb shot 13.8 percent from the field and only made four three-pointers the entire game. The team dropped to 0-7 on the season.
Liberty will return home for its next contest, Thursday evening against James Madison. Lipscomb’s next game will also be a Thursday home tilt against Mercer.
