NCAA sends formal notice to Oregon for using recruiting services

The NCAA contacted Oregon President, Richard Lariviere, to offer an official Notice of Inquiry. And they don’t want information about admissions.

The NCAA is beginning an investigation into its football program’s use of recruiting services. Oregon made use of Willie Lyles and his Houton-based Complete Scouting Services – including a $25,000 payment.

The “fishy” smell is because the information Lyles provided was incredibly outdated and LYles had a personal relationship with a few particular players that the Oregon Ducks were apparently interested in recruiting.

The University of Oregon Athletic Director, Rob Mullens, said the official notice wasn’t a surprise. The school made the announcement before the Ducks game against Missouri State.
