The Baltimore Ravens agreed to a five-year contract with defensive tackle Haloti Ngata, Tuesday. The deal, according to Ngata’s agent, will net the 335-pounder $40 million in the first two years.
Ngata started the 2011 season with a $12.4 million franchise tender. So far this season he has earned his pay, too. The two-time Pro Bowl defensive linemen has 10 tackles, six solos, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.
He was rewarded with a new deal.
Ngata was drafted 12th overall by the Ravens in the 2006 NFL draft. The former Oregon Duck has tallied 338 total tackles, 12 sacks, three interceptions, three forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries in his 80 career games.
