Versus is adding a ESPN-like show to their weeknight line-up. It will be a live in-studio talk show.
The show, “NBC SportsTalk,” will air from 6-7 p.m. on Monday through Friday starting Sept. 8. It is one of the first steps in the Versus changeover after the NBC-Comcast merger.
It also plans to show a sports business show on Friday nights.
“If we’re going to be important to sports fans, we have to be relevant each day,” NBC Sports Group chair Mark Lazarus told The Associated Press.
The show will have multiple sides. Monday’s show will be themed off the popular website, ProFootballTalk.com and will be called “ProFootballTalk.” Other shows like “ProBasketballTalk” or “CollegeFootballTalk” could be coming in the next few months.
“NBC SportsTalk” will be hosted by former Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic anchor Russ Thaler.
“The live nightly shows also give us the opportunity to tap into our stable of top talent across all of our platforms to provide a unique perspective for sports fans,” Jon Miller, president of programming for NBC Sports and Versus, added.
Versus will be renamed the NBC Sports Network on Jan. 2.
