After a promising start Sunday, Washington Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg will make his second rehab start Friday night.
He’ll be throwing for Class-A affiliate Potomac.
Strasburg underwent Tommy John surgery Sept. 3, 2010. The [Five] Daily’s Mike Lederer was at Strasburg’s first start and said he looked good. He threw 31 pitches and struck out four and gave up one homerun in his first rehab start.
He pitched 1.2 innings throwing mostly fastballs – in the upper 90s.
Nationals manager Davey Johnson told The Associated Press Tuesday that Strasburg will throw three innings with a 50-pitch limit for Potomac and he hopes Strasburg will be ready for the Bigs by September.
Johnson plans to use Strasburg to replace Jordan Zimmermann, who is on a 160-inning limit this season.
