When the Minnesota Vikings’ Bryant McKinnie was released a lot of people didn’t expect it. But the Vikings players did.
According to Vikings cornerback, Antoine Winfield, the coaches “really had no choice” because the former Pro Bowl left tackle was out of shape. Left guard Steve Hutchinson also echoed disappointed in McKinnie. In fact, after practice on Wednesday, players spoke up in support of Head Coach Leslie Frazer.
McKinnie reported to training camp on time – but apparently that was all he did. He sat out practices before being cut.
According to The Associated Press, the Vikings plan to start Charlie Johnson at left tackle for the first preseason game.
